Position: Full-Time, Long-Term

Salary: £170-£220 a day

Empowering Learning is seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our Key Stage 4 Alternative Provision team in Croydon. This is a full-time, long-term role, offering a competitive daily rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to students in Year 10 and 11.
  • Teach GCSE English with a robust knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Effectively manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) is essential.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience teaching GCSE English in a mainstream school setting.
  • Experience in delivering Functional Skills is desirable but not essential.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong understanding of the English curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Proven track record of successful behavior management strategies.
  • Experience working with students who have additional needs such as ASD and ADHD.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with a commitment to supporting students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education or are on a short-term intervention program.
  • Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Able to teach/cover other subjects across the school.

About the Students:

  • The cohort consists entirely of students in Year 10 and 11.
  • Students are either on a short-term intervention program or have been permanently excluded from mainstream school.
  • Many students have additional needs such as ASD and ADHD, but most do not have EHCPs or meet the thresholds for these.
