Alfen Recruitment is partnering exclusively with a prestigious client, a renowned player in the A/V technology space with over 45 years of industry expertise. Our client, recognized globally for their cutting-edge solutions in video conversion, AV signal distribution, and multimedia processing, is seeking a talented Hardware Engineer to join their dynamic team.

About the Role: As a Hardware Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of advanced video display and processing systems. You will work closely with our client's proprietary A/V technology, contributing to the creation of innovative products for professional and broadcast applications. This is a hybrid role based in either Maidenhead, Berkshire or Margate, Kent offering a flexible working environment with opportunities for remote work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver hardware solutions to meet project objectives, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Capture design requirements and oversee hardware schematic capture and PCB design for high-speed digital circuits and DC-DC power supplies.
  • Implement EMC regulations and conduct hardware development to comply with standards.
  • Lead PCB board bringup, verification testing, and design for manufacturability.
  • Research and select optimal components to achieve design specifications.

Skills and Experience:

  • Essential: Proven experience in embedded hardware design, including PCB design and hands-on hardware development.
  • Knowledge of EMC regulations and experience in compliance.
  • Practical skills in PCB board bringup, verification testing, and fault-finding.
  • Strong research capabilities to identify ideal components for design requirements.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with Agile scrum methodologies, Altium PCB toolchain, and high pin count BGA FPGA devices.
  • Experience with Digital Video Standards (HDMI, DisplayPort, SDI, HDBaseT) and their implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit simulation tools (Mathlab/LTSpice) and PCB debug using oscilloscopes.

Candidate Profile:

  • Education: Numerate degree or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years in electronic hardware development environment.
  • Proven track record in the complete design cycle from concept to production release.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proactive attitude towards innovative solutions.
