Caretaker/Centre Assistant

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Caretaker / Centre Assistant to work as part of the team, you will provide the facilities management for the Start Well Children's Centres across the borough, in line with the Council's standard operating procedures. This is a part-time temporary role for the next 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Bolton Council are looking for a Caretaker / Centre Assistant to be responsible for the maintenance of site security, opening and closing buildings and ensuring all facilities in and around the buildings are in excellent condition, safe, secure and clean at all times, and that all equipment is maintained, and resources are available.

What are your responsibilities?

  • To undertake a range of clerical duties for all areas of the Technical Support Team including, Cash Control, Quality Control and Systems.
  • General repairs
  • Manual handling
  • General upkeep of the building
  • Reporting any maintenance issues to the relevant department
  • Undertake fire safety and general health and safety checks to the building.
  • You will have a flexible approach to responding to the needs of the service and be able to provide the facilities management for service buildings to ensure they provide a safe and healthy environment for all service users.
  • You will be organised and committed to ensuring the Start Well Service provides the best possible facilities to our children and families.
  • You will work flexibly as a part of a team, providing cover at other centres as and when required, and assisting staff and services users in a professional manner which reflects the values of the Council.

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have previous Caretaker / Centre Assistant
  • Be able to keep areas clean and tidy
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public / clients, and other members of staff including managers.
  • Very Strong IT skills, as you will be using Microsoft office and other internal IT Systems.
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Full UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle. An essential car user allowance is payable as boroughwide travel across centres is required.
  • Part Time 18.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday Mornings 7.00am - 10.42am only or afternoons 14.30 - 18.12pm only.14.30 - 18.12pm, One week of Mornings and the second week on afternoons.
