As a Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing the purchase ledger, overseeing the finance inbox, and reconciling all transactions up to trial balance. Your meticulous attention to detail and commitment to meeting monthly deadlines will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our accounting system.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Register and process purchase invoices accurately and promptly to facilitate timely payments.
  • Administer the invoice approval system and manage the Finance Inbox.
  • Respond to queries from suppliers and colleagues regarding payments efficiently and accurately.
  • Conduct supplier statement reconciliations and process staff expenses in compliance with policy.
  • Manage relationships with utility providers and conduct quarterly direct debit audits.
  • Assist with payment run preparation and administer procurement cards.
  • Work on accounts receivable tasks, including reconciling income, preparing sales invoices, and conducting credit control.
  • Collaborate with regional teams and the Fundraising Team to ensure accurate income processing and membership reconciliation.
  • Contribute to financial management operations by producing reports, preparing for annual audits, and completing monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly journals, including prepayments and accruals, and undertake balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Act as a "chart of accounts champion" to ensure correct nominal coding and advise staff on coding queries.
  • Process intercompany transactions and support change projects to enhance organisational effectiveness.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in finance, particularly in managing purchase ledgers and reconciliations.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills for handling queries and advising colleagues.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
