Pay: £55000 - £60000 per annum (Depending on experience)

Hours: Flexible including weekend cover as per rota

Nova Recovery is a small private drug and alcohol rehab located in West Scotland that provides round-the-clock specialist addiction treatment for drug and alcohol dependency and stress-related mental illness.

Located in the beautiful west coast of Scotland, we are a homely rehab centre that offers high-quality ensuite accommodation. Our treatment service is led by a psychiatrist, alongside a nurses, clinical nurse, therapists and recovery workers with years of experience in treating addiction. We provide evidenced-based therapeutic programmes that are proven to support your addiction recovery from conditions such as alcohol addiction, drug addiction, behavioural addictions and mental health problems.

Our centre offers a calming and relaxing environment for clients suffering from addiction to rejuvenate and achieve long-term recovery.

As part of our new model were looking for a independent Non Medical Prescriber who can also become the registered Manager for this private 16 bedded hospital.

Job Summary

To provide non-medical (independent) prescribing service for substance misusing clients; to be responsible for substitute prescribing for complex clients, and to provide advice and guidance on prescribing issues to a team of Nurses.

To provide controlled drug and medical withdrawal from alcohol prescribing as an independent prescriber and a supplementary prescriber (in accordance with agreed clinical management plans) to substance misusing clients, within their sphere of competence.

To carry out comprehensive assessments of clients presenting to the service in need of substitute prescribing jointly with non-statutory partners.

To accurately assess the multiple needs of this complex client group, including identifying and exercising judgments relating to homelessness, drug treatment, psychological counselling interventions, treatment plans, criminal justice system, Child protection, other agencies etc.

Main duties of the job

  • To work collaboratively with clients, service colleagues and other agencies to promote recovery from drugs/alcohol misuse in close collaboration with medical colleagues.
  • To provide advice and decisions to Nurses and partner agencies in relation to crisis situations, conditions and treatment plans, based on medical and drug history and knowledge of certain conditions.
  • To promote the health needs of clients with complex issues, and within their sphere of competence and provide interventions for these needs.
  • To carry out clinical review of clients, and in collaboration with recovery worker and client to update care and treatment plans.
  • To promote clinical excellence by complying with nationally agreed, Trust and statutory policies and clinical guidance, while maintaining own clinical competencies in this role.
  • To undertake non-medical prescribing duties following appropriate accredited training (this being entered on the NMC register) within agreed protocols, working closely with the medical consultant.
  • To work within Specialist Prescribing Substance Misuse services to embed INMP role into hub/site practice and the wider service

Key tasks

Support clinical and staff to understand quality management and implement changes to policy and practices.

  • To develop and support systems to understand performance within rehabilitation, care and support.
  • To support staff to utilise the systems so they are able to understand how they are performing and demonstrate how they are the best at getting better across care and support.
  • Signpost staff to guidance and advice on policies and Health Care Improvements (HIS) standards
  • Ensure the most up to date policy and associated documents are accessible and used appropriately in practice.
  • Promote and share best practice across services.
  • Undertake and support quality development as required.

  • To provide clinical leadership in delivering safe treatment for substance misuse, undertaking the role of Primary and Emergency Care Nurse Specialist for clients attending the healthcare team ensuring effective evidence based practice is provided in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Guidelines for Professional Practice and providing senior level advice on substance misuse clients healthcare and its management/needs, both within the healthcare arena and also to non-clinical colleagues of all disciplines and in all prison departments, ensuring that the healthcare team have an up to dat
