SEN Teaching Assistant Early Years

**The Role:

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic early years team at a primary school in Stockport. In this role, you will support children aged 2 to 5 years, providing tailored assistance to those with special educational needs (SEN). Your role will be vital in ensuring each child receives the personalised support required to thrive in their early years education.

Position Details:

Type: Full-time, long-term

Hours: 8:30 to 15:30

Start Date: First week of September 2024

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create Inclusive Learning Environments: Work closely with the early years team to foster an inclusive and supportive atmosphere.
  • Provide Individualised Support: Offer one-to-one support to children with SEN, tailoring activities to meet their individual needs.
  • Plan and Deliver Activities: Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging, developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Monitor Progress: Track and record the progress of children, providing regular updates to parents and the school team.
  • Foster a Positive Atmosphere: Promote a nurturing environment that enhances the well-being and development of all children.
  • Collaborate with Professionals: Work with external specialists, such as speech therapists and educational psychologists, to implement tailored support plans.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in an early years setting.
  • Proven experience in supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Relevant qualification in childcare or education (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A caring, patient attitude with a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and the EYFS framework.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
