Mental Health and Trauma Team Lead

The London Fire Brigade are seeking a dedicated Mental Health and Trauma Team Lead to join their team on an interim 3-month basis, with potential of being extended. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective delivery of the Brigade's mental health first aid and peer trauma support team services. This role requires a professional with a qualification in counselling skills or psychology, and experience in coordinating projects and supervising teams.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver mental health services effectively.
  • Manage recruitment, training, and coordination of Mental Health First Aid and Trauma Support volunteers.
  • Provide advice, support, and supervision to volunteers, ensuring they work safely and maintain their own mental wellbeing.
  • Evaluate the mental health first aid and peer trauma support services and develop them in line with emerging good practice.
  • Prepare reports, advice, and support for senior managers on the development and delivery of initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A qualification in counselling skills and/or counselling at Level 5 or above, or a degree in Psychology.
  • Experience in coordinating, planning, and prioritising projects/workloads.
  • Experience in supporting and supervising individuals involved in mental health management.
  • Experience handling confidential information and understanding the ethics of confidentiality.
  • Policy development experience and the ability to create guidance materials.
