Programme Manager

The Job:

As a Programme Manager, you will be responsible for successfully leading several complexes, fast paced projects simultaneously on behalf of diverse global Customers.

  • You will engender a pro-active, tenacious project management team which manages Customers without escalation and work with a detailed, intellectual mindset that has documents right first time.
  • You will work cross functionally with design, manufacturing, quality, assembly, commercial and others to support customers over the lifecycle of their project.
  • You will be responsible for delivery, commercial exposure, opportunities, and risks whilst delivering cutting edge solutions to our customers.
  • You will also be responsible for the account management for some customers through the whole lifecycle of programmes
  • You must be able to demonstrate a proven record of delivering fast paced projects to deadlines, excellent quality, and costs with customer satisfaction.

Role autonomy:

The role is supervised by the Head of Programme Delivery, however, has some scope to amend routine processes if appropriate. The role closely collaborates with the Operations Director and Head of Supply Chain and Planning to ensure all the Customer's needs are met through the project lifecycle. This role makes decisions that impact team performance and development, with a significant influence on outcomes.

Problem solving element:

  • Solve problems successfully whilst adhering to policies and procedures, seeking the advice of a senior manager if necessary.
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address business challenges, implementing innovative technical / management principles with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of creativity and effective problem resolution.

Knowledge and complexity:

  • Possess strong business acumen and the ability to implement business and / or technical principles effectively.
  • Be highly qualified with extensive relevant work experience and can deliver suitable industry programme management knowledge.
  • Possess technical mechanical product knowledge, ideally within driveline systems.

Accountability:

The role holder has responsibility for:

  • A project or number of projects, with multi-million-pound revenue and multi-year life cycles
  • Being the senior Customer interface for the project, establishing strong and effective Customer relationships. This will include leading project reviews, creation and management of timing plans, minutes, and budget ownership.
  • Providing Customer support through the program lifecycle including aftersales
  • Managing and monitoring project scope and leading customer negotiations on change
  • Reporting commercial / financial / project health to senior members of the management team.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in adherence with internal project management policies and procedures.

Leadership:

The role holder will:

  • Have overall project leadership of multiple complex projects. Responsible for delivering on-time, on-budget with good quality to achieve high levels of Customer satisfaction.
  • Leading preparation of Customer proposals (scope of work, timing, costs, pricing)
  • Daily interface with operations to ensure on time delivery of project deliverables.
  • Be able to lead a cross functional team (though not directly reporting to you) to deliver Customer needs.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills alongside robust and comprehensive technical knowledge / expertise.
  • Work effectively with colleagues, providing guidance to others engaged in similar work. May provide support to a PM team member with some specific tasks or mentor support.

Additional/special features of the role:

Location / Travel

Expected to be UK based within the RPP office in Leamington Spa, 5 days per week.
Occasional EU travel

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications:

  • Automotive project delivery experience, preferably motorsport drive train project delivery experience
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent stakeholder management & communication
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, including MS Project
  • Aptitude for logical, methodical problem-solving using techniques such as 8D etc

Desirable technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications:

  • APM member, ideally at full level or similar
  • Able to demonstrate continuous learning throughout their career
  • Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP Systems
