£40,000 per annum

40 hours per week – 5 of 7 days

This is an exciting role with a significant amount of autonomy for an ambitious and experienced professional. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the role will provide leadership and management to a team of area coordinators and managers while also taking operational responsibility for the 7 day a week partnership and universal youth work offer supporting over 40 youth workers, 3500 active members and 150 young people per session. The role will be responsible for managing Delivery Partnerships with other local organisations that will complement the offer at our client.

The Head of Youth Work Delivery and Partnerships holds overall responsibility for delivering a vibrant, open access for the young people of Croydon. They will be accountable for the effective development and delivery of the core provision including Junior and Senior sessions, their Special Educational Needs session, holiday clubs, partnership sessions and their targeted school programme. In addition, they will be expected to work in line with quality assurance for youth work helping to achieve recognised national quality marks and embed a culture of excellence across all their young people services. The role will ensure that the youth zone provides a fun, supportive, safe, and inclusive place which attracts and retains young people to motivate them and raise their aspirations.

About Our Client

Our client runs South London's most vibrant hangout spot for all young people. It was the third youth zone to be opened in London.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join a small but growing, impactful fundraising team and play a critical part in shaping opportunities for London's young people and supporting a grass roots, committed universal youth service. This centre exists to give young people somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

It is a state-of-the-art, £6.5 million building, which provides young people with access to a range of activities, offering them the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, warm and positive staff and volunteers. The facilities include a 3G pitch, a gym, sports hall, recreation area and dance, arts, music and media suites, with facilities equipped for a wide range of sporting, artistic, cultural and general recreational activities and targeted services. To access a Youth Zone, young people aged 8 – 19 (or 25 with additional needs) simply pay 50p per visit and £5 per year membership.

Essential Criteria

  • Substantial experience of youth work and managing activities and programmes.
  • Substantial experience of leading, managing and developing a large and diverse team of staff and volunteers.
  • Experience of delivering results through your own work and through a staff team.
  • Track record of project and programme management.
  • Experience of working with a range of IT systems and programmes.
  • Effectively contributing to a workplace culture and seeking continuous improvement.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, be thorough and well organised.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, relationship building, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and awareness of issues affecting young people and the wider community.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, diversity awareness and safeguarding best practice and how these relate to children and young people.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance and commitment to Safeguarding children.

40 hours per week – 5 of 7 days – expectation that the successful candidate commits to working flexibly and being visible for the team across evenings and weekends.
