About Us

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our Mental Health team. This role is critical in enabling service users with individual needs to improve their quality of life within their community. You will work as part of a team in a service user group who have mental health needs, promoting independence, wellbeing, and healthy life choices.

Role Purpose

To provide support to service users (residents/patients) with mental health needs, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives and achieve their goals. The role involves monitoring, supervising, and delivering support, working within budget, and adhering to policy and procedure guidelines.

Mental Health Specific Responsibilities:

  • Empathy & Support
  • Recognize indicators of deteriorating mental health and agree on appropriate interventions.
  • Promote recovery and independent lifestyles among service users.
  • Encourage service users to understand and manage factors affecting their mental wellbeing.
  • Sector Quality Standards
  • Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with recognized standards, such as CSCI or Health Care Commission guidelines.

Person Specification

Technical / Professional Skills:

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills tailored to the audience.
  • Collaborative team working skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to work in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to deliver against agreed objectives and targets.

Service Performance & Service User Sector Specific Requirements:

  • Understanding of issues faced by service users with mental health and/or dual diagnosis challenges.
  • Awareness of current legislation and policy impacting service delivery, such as the National Service Framework and the Mental Health Act.
  • Previous experience in the care profession.
  • Vocational qualification e.g., NVQ 2/3 or willingness to work towards.
