Finishing Team Leader

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Somercotes team in the position of Finishing Team Leader.

This position will provide effective supervision to the Finishing team at Somercotes. The role holder will be an active contributor to the department's Safety (first), Quality (second) and Production (third) performance.

You will manage the workforce to provide efficient labour utilisation and be an active driver of continuous improvement activities in the workplace. Also, you will ensure that Finishing of products are met to the site's Quality standards, and will operate in a working Team Leader style - not only supervising, but also performing the works yourself, along with your team.

Your duties would include but not limited to the following;

  • Safety - Ensure that safety is always paramount, and that no risks are taken.
  • Housekeeping - Ensure the shop floor and all other related areas are kept clean and tidy, using a 'clean as you go' approach. Untidy = unsafe.
  • Continuous Improvement - To drive, with the support of management where necessary, a culture of continuous improvement of all activities within the work area.
  • Training - Utilising SOP's (and developing them where necessary), training of your team to the required standard, and completing records of such training. Ensure all Operators are working to the required standards.
  • Quality - Monitor product quality and react appropriately to ensure sub-standard product is quarantined/rejected, and any re-occurrence of non-quality is minimised.
  • Labour utilisation - Ensure labour is in the right place at the right time. Ensure cross-functional skills across team to maximise this. Where externally provided training courses are desirable, raise to management.
  • Reporting - Report accurately, honestly and in a timely manner, any issues to management.

About You;

  • Educated to college level desired
  • Team Leader experience (Must have)
  • Finishing experience
  • CSCS trained to visit sites, but may be attained later with prior agreement
  • IOSH Managing Safely is desired, but may be attained later with prior agreement
  • Risk Assessment and SOP experience
