Systems Engineer - Substation - Stockton-on-tees

We are currently seeking a talented Systems Engineer to join our client's team in the power distribution, transmission & substation industry. As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) for Power applications, including Renewables. If you are passionate about substation design, cyber security, quality assurance, automation, and control systems, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Technical Manager and Lead Engineer to execute project activities.
Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance and Cyber Security requirements.
Collaborate effectively as part of a project team.
Create I/O schedules and Signal Lists based on Client-provided information and discussions.
Develop Functional Design Specifications from User Requirement Specifications, Control Philosophies, and Client discussions.
Prepare test documentation to demonstrate successful project scope delivery.
Assist in the development of the System Architecture.
Develop, modify, and test Controller, HMI, SCADA, and Network device software.
Provide onsite commissioning support.
Review technical documentation and software produced by others.
Identify and specify project equipment for purchase.
Qualifications:

HNC/NVQ Level 4 or above in an associated discipline or equivalent experience.
Working towards or achieved I. Eng or equivalent (preferred).
Knowledge:

Strong understanding of applied IACS technologies and architectures, including Industrial Protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 60870-5-103, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP/RTU, etc.) and Ethernet Networking (Linear, Star, Ring, etc.).
Familiarity with Power Transmission & Distribution, Renewables (Onshore/Offshore Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems), and Utilities (Gas Networks, Water/Wastewater).
Skills & Abilities:

Experience in programming Controllers (RTU, BCU, PLC, etc.), HMI, SCADA, or Network Devices (Switch, Firewall, Protocol Gateway, etc.) from IACS.
Familiarity with IACS manufacturers such as Copa Data, SEL, GE Grid, ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Hirschmann, Moxa, Cisco, Honeywell, Emerson, etc.
