We're seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Security Advisor to join our client at their Barrow location. The successful candidate will execute routine security responsibilities under supervision, contributing to the delivery of security tasks aligned with relevant policies, standards, and procedures. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a vital security workstream, where you will support the overall security function and contribute to maintaining our clients' high standards of safety, health, and environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Security Coordination and Task Execution: Coordinate and carry out security tasks in line with the clients' policies, standards, procedures, and best practices for the assigned workstream. Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal obligations.
  • Deputy Role: Act as Deputy Area Liaison Officer (ALO)/Nuclear Liaison Officer (NLO) to the senior NLO, supporting the security needs of the business area.
  • Information Support: Assist security and other business units by providing essential information and advice, ensuring the secure movement and transmission of classified material.
  • Guidance and Training: Offer advice and guidance on routine security queries and support the training of colleagues in security procedures, with assistance from senior staff.
  • Security Awareness: Promote and support a robust security culture by raising awareness among employees through security inductions and modelling behaviours that align with BAE Systems values.
  • Leadership Behaviours: While not holding line management responsibilities, demonstrate leadership behaviours by exhibiting strategic vision, creativity, adaptability, collaboration, and integrity. Inspire others and contribute to team safety and wellbeing.

Skills and Experience
Essential:

  • Experience in interacting and communicating with different levels of seniority and with customers, demonstrating the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant security services, such as personnel security, information security, cyber and IT security, cryptographic management, and asset protection.
  • Understanding of legislation and regulations related to the assigned business area.

Desirable:

  • Appropriate entry-level Security qualification from a certified body.
  • Achieved and maintained the required mandated SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person) for nuclear security and safety baselines if required.
  • Familiarity with BAE Systems and security functions at the local level.
