Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Specialised Support

Location: East Manchester, Primary School

Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to provide specialised one-to-one support to a new pupil at our primary school in East Manchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for offering tailored assistance to a student who is new to the school and can at times display challenging behaviour, ensuring their successful integration into the school environment and facilitating their learning journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a new pupil, assisting in their transition and integration into the school community.
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively, promoting a positive and supportive learning atmosphere.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to devise and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for the student.
  • Foster a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil to encourage engagement, participation, and progress in their academic and social development.
  • Assist in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for the pupil, ensuring their individual needs are met.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children displaying challenging behaviour or special educational needs is essential.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with pupils, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education, or child development are advantageous.
