Senior Manager – Corporate Development and M&A

We are looking for a Senior Manager – Corporate Development to play a pivotal role in our clients strategic planning and corporate development activities, focusing on growth through acquisition and new contracts via the tender process.

The ideal candidate will work closely with a broad stakeholder group, including the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), senior management, and external parties such as vendors, advisors, and financiers.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Monitor and manage market information to identify industry trends and M&A activities.
  • Assist in the identification, evaluation, and execution of investment opportunities.
  • Determine the scope and phasing of due diligence or advisory work by third-party advisers.
  • Review and challenge due diligence work and input into transaction documents.
  • Draft and present business cases for ELT and Board approval, including detailed financial modelling.
  • Manage a pipeline of tenders and M&A opportunities.
  • Support the performance measurement and monitoring of acquired businesses.
  • Project manage significant acquisition, tender response activities, and strategic projects.
  • Coordinate multi-functional project teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Lead the M&A process, including management of external advisers.
  • Negotiate and resolve complex project, management, and contractual issues.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the business to ensure deal issues are addressed.
  • Prepare integration plans and monitor project updates.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead a team.
  • Influential negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Experience working within the transport or infrastructure sector.
  • Highly effective communication style and strong business writing skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent attention to stakeholder needs and requirements.
  • Self-motivated with an enthusiastic approach to business operations.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
