Join the Youth Support Team: Empower Adolescents in the South East

A Local Authority in the South East is seeking a seasoned Social Worker to join their Youth Support team, dedicated to supporting adolescents aged 11-17 years. This role requires a practitioner with extensive front-line experience, who is adept at navigating complex cases involving vulnerable young people.

Key Highlights:

  • Collaborative Practice: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to build meaningful relationships with young people experiencing challenges such as family breakdown, homelessness, exploitation (including child sexual exploitation under Section 42 of the Children Act 1989), mental health issues, and chronic non-attendance at school.
  • Outstanding Ofsted Rating: Join a Local Authority recognised for its excellence, having achieved an 'Outstanding' rating in its most recent Ofsted inspection.
  • Supportive Management: Benefit from a highly supportive management team that is readily accessible and promotes a culture of collaboration. The team encourages Social Workers to bring forward their ideas for case discussions, fostering a collective decision-making process in line with the Children and Families Act 2014.
  • Specialisation Opportunities: Tailor your caseload to reflect your areas of interest, such as child exploitation or mental health. The Local Authority is committed to your professional development, providing opportunities to specialise and enhance your expertise, thereby improving your career prospects.
  • Hybrid Working: The service embraces a hybrid working model, allowing for flexible working arrangements, including remote work - a policy that is anticipated to continue in the foreseeable future.
  • Connected Practice Model: The service utilises the Connected Practice model, a relationship-based framework that prioritises building strong, trust-based relationships with service users, their families, colleagues, and external partners. This approach is designed to ensure comprehensive information sharing, leading to more effective and holistic interventions, as outlined in the Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) statutory guidance.

This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to an 'Outstanding' Local Authority that values its locum Social Workers and invests in maintaining a stable, well-supported workforce. The embedding of the Connected Practice model has significantly enhanced the integration of services, leading to more cohesive support for families and young people.

As a Social Worker in this team, you will have the autonomy to shape your caseload around key issues such as family disruption, homelessness, exploitation, mental health, and educational disengagement. This focus will enable you to build specialised knowledge, furthering your professional development.

Requirements:

  • Front-line experience in child protection and safeguarding within the UK context.
