About the Role

This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact our health and safety strategy.

The Health and Safety Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust framework across the club. You will work closely with various departments, ensuring compliance with legislation, managing risks, and fostering a strong safety culture.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of health and safety regulations and be adept at influencing and engaging staff at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To continually improve and manage health and safety responsibilities to achieve compliance for the club
  • Support Heads of Department in the management of safety and health, developing an effective health and safety culture
  • To be alert to hazards at work and to be aware of responsibility for personal safety in addition to the Club's legal responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all Health and safety regulations for COSSH and related paperwork
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and site management health and safety systems
  • Support the Heads of Departments and Senior Leadership Team with occupational health issues and reporting
  • Review and manage accident, incident, and near-miss reports, including RIDDOR reporting
  • Lead the Health and Safety internal committee meetings, reporting to directors as needed
  • Collaborate with the Estates Project Manager and Heads of Departments on health and safety-related projects
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety laws and guidance
  • Lead safety and environmental compliance initiatives to prepare for audits and inspections
  • Promote safe work practices and a safety awareness culture
  • Manage fire risk strategy and Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs)
  • To report (written and verbal) regularly to the director or Estates and relevant Committees as needed

Required Experience:

  • Professional H&S Qualification with Chartered membership of IOSH preferred and NEBOSH
  • Proven experience in a H&S management role

Required Skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Thorough understanding of current, national, and local safety and health regulations, including COSHH and IOSH
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organisation
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills
