A Management Accountant is sought for a thriving SME Property business. This role requires a high level of competence in accounting and finance, with a focus on property management.

Our client is a SME family owned Property group. The group owns a substantial and diverse investment property portfolio c. £600M value, with the main departments covering Residential, Commercial, Legal and Finance.
Description
Management accounting:
- Oversee bank reconciliation work including new virtual client account for deposits
- Oversee reconciliation of external agent statements
- Quarter-end balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparation of quarter-end journals (data exported from Qube)
- Preparation of quarterly management accounts
- Sub-consolidations by asset class, with focus on residential portfolio
- Ad-hoc preparation and analysis of property P&Ls
- Periodic check on completeness of tenant recharges
- Preparation of commercial arrears reports for internal meetings
- Analysis of new lettings and renewals
- Monthly tenancy summaries
Covenant reporting:
- Assist with preparation of quarterly reporting for bank loan covenants
- Preparation of property reports (new leases / renewals / tenant breaks / rent reviews etc
- Periodic review of our EPC register
Statutory reporting and tax:
- Preparation of Corporation Tax analysis packs for our external tax compliance team
- Collation of information for capital allowance reviews
- Assist with provision of information to external auditors
Qube database:
- Once trained, act as one of a restricted number of database administrators
- Process "data change forms" from surveyors
- Review accuracy and uniformity of database
Systems / Longer term projects:
- Integration of complementary MRI Qube products
Profile
A successful Management Accountant should have:
Accountant (ACA or ACCA)
- Trained with a smaller firm of accountants, with experience extending beyond pure audit (i.e. accounts preparation, tax etc)
- 1-5 years post-qualification experience, either in practice or commerce
- Real estate experience / knowledge desirable but not essential
- Strong double-entry booking essential
- Strong Excel skills essential (pivots and lookups "second-nature")
- "Hands-on" / "completer-finisher" approach
- Takes ownership of work
- Present financial information clearly and accurately
- Analytical mind, to review financials and identify errors, omissions and opportunities
- Confidence to challenge the status-quo, and recommend improvements to systems and processes
