English Teacher (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking an English Teacher to provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences for our students during a period of maternity cover. The successful candidate will be responsible for the learning outcomes of students and will report to the Head of English.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Deliver high-quality and successful English lessons to all age groups.
  • Act as a Personal Development (PD) Teacher, monitoring pupils' performance data.
  • Address underachievement by contributing to Academy strategy and implementing department strategies.
  • Provide assessments to students and parents as required and fulfil reporting obligations.
  • Liaise with parents to ensure excellent attainment and support extended day activities.
  • Manage student behaviour in classrooms and around the Academy.
  • Adhere to all Academy policies and promote the Academy ethos of high achievement.
  • Attend department and staff meetings, open evenings, and parents' evenings.
  • Uphold the Academy's behaviour code and uniform regulations.
  • Participate in staff training and development to ensure subject knowledge is up-to-date.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Ability to use ICT effectively to raise achievement.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality teaching to pupils of all abilities.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
  • Knowledge of developments in the National Curriculum and differentiated schemes of work.
