Health and Safety Manager -South West/Midlands Field based

The Role:

As a Health and Safety Manager at Holland & Barrett, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our ambitious plans are met with the highest safety standards. You will be responsible for fostering a robust culture of Health, Safety, Food Safety, and Fire Safety within our stores.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Health and Safety Strategy across the Retail Estate.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all legal and Company standards, delivering insightful performance reports.
  • Foster a dynamic HS culture through building safety awareness strategies and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify and share best practices to ensure a unified approach to safety management.
  • Compile and present comprehensive reports and statistics on Health and Safety systems.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including HSE and EHO Inspectors.
  • Investigate RIDDOR and major accidents to uncover issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Provide expert guidance and support for innovative safety solutions and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with the wider EHS team and cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and projects.

Location: This is a field-based/hybrid role (South West/Midlands) including Hampshire, Cornwall, Birmingham, Swansea) - On average and as a minimum 3 days a week will need to be dedicated to store visits, however a certain amount of flexibility will be required to meet operational needs and requirements of the business.

The Person:

Key Requirements:

  • Recognised safety qualification (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
  • Experience in multi-site retail is preferred, ideally from a field based role
  • Experience in management with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Excellent planning, organising, and Excel skills.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively in a changing environment.
  • Passionate about Health, Safety, and Environmental management.
