The Role:
On behalf of our client we are seeking a HR Advisor. In this role you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the HR Department. The HR Advisor will support the Director of HR in providing a proactive and operational HR service to the school and co-ordinating the day-today operation of the HR function.
Responsibilities in this role will include:
- Provide timely and high-quality advice and guidance to line managers on terms and conditions, employment legislation and HR issues, proposing solutions and seeking support from the Director of HR as necessary
- Responsible for the implementation of HR policies and procedures and assisting with the review and update of policies as required
- Coach and work with line managers to ensure the timely resolution of employment issues where possible
- Monitor sickness absence levels and take appropriate
- Assist the Director of HR with the co-ordination of employee relations processes including grievances,
- disciplinaries, absence management, performance management, capability and redundancy including administration related to these processes
- Provide advice and support for maternity, paternity and shared parental leave processes including all administrative aspects and the preparation of any relevant correspondence•
- Be the first point of contact for HR-related queries for all staff
- Participate in the development and implementation of specific HR projects and procedures
- Attend, advise at (where required) and minute internal staff meetings (disciplinary, capability, grievance meetings)
- Liaise with the Health and Safety Officer and Occupational Health where necessary in relation to phased returns, wellness actions plans, DSE assessments and adjustments for new starters
- Assist with the completion of references on request
- Have an awareness of recruitment and selection processes for staff and have an input into these processes as required, especially during peak recruitment periods
- Sit on interview panels/advise at wash-up meetings as and when required to ensure the school fulfils its Safer
- Draft offer letters and contracts of employment for approval and issue in a timely manner
- Support induction processes for new starters where required
- Instruct and liaise with Occupational Health, where required, for any pre-start medicals Payroll
- Work with the Payroll Administrator to ensure the smooth processing of payroll each month
The Person:
For this role our client seeking someone with previous HR Advisor experience
- A CIPD qualification (or working towards qualification) would be an advantage
- An excellent knowledge of HR and employment law best practice
- Experienced in providing HR advice and guidance to stakeholders
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels
- A competent self-starter, able to create and take initiatives and act autonomously within the framework of a team
- Ability to work cohesively and supportively as part of a team
- Ability to problem solve
- Excellent attention to detail with a conscientious approach
- Strong ICT skills and computer literacy including experience of MS Office
- Previous experience of working in HR in education would be an advantage but is not essential
- Friendly and approachable nature with a sense of humour
The Hours:
Monday - Friday 40 hours per week

Westbury on Trym (Bristol) with car parking - 100% office based
