The Arboretum is looking for an experienced Gardener to join an established Grounds Team to assist in the continued maintenance, conservation, and development of the 150-acre site.

The Arboretum is the UK's year-round centre of Remembrance and part of the Royal British Legion.

As a Gardener,

you will carry out and deliver maintenance, conservation and development works of the National Memorial Arboretum, ensuring its trees, gardens, grounds, and flora are befitting of its status as the nation's year-round centre of Remembrance.

Reporting to the Grounds and Landscape Supervisor, your key responsibilities include maintaining and managing all horticultural areas to the highest standard throughout the year. You will perform various gardening tasks such as pruning, mowing, planting, and weeding, and operate both handheld and ride-on machinery for grounds maintenance. Additionally, you will support volunteers with horticultural projects and maintenance, including participation in the NMA's working weekend. Your role will also involve assisting with the documentation of horticultural activities through written and photographic records. Upholding high standards of horticultural and arboricultural care at all times is essential, as is ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

About the National Memorial Arboretum

The Arboretum is the UK's year-round centre of Remembrance and part of the Royal British Legion. Home to over 350 memorials, including the nationally-important Armed Forces Memorial, it remembers the service and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve our country. The 150-acre site features around 30,000 maturing trees and an abundance of wildlife. Each year the Arboretum welcomes around 300,000 visitors, many of whom attend one of the 200+ events which take place across the site.

In March 2017, the National Memorial Arboretum formally opened its new award-winning Remembrance Centre.
