Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Systems Safety Engineer to join our client. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential safety hazards throughout the lifecycle of aerospace systems. You will ensure that all safety requirements and standards are met, and you will play a crucial role in maintaining our commitment to safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment:

  • Identify potential hazards and risks in aerospace systems and components.

  • Conduct hazard analyses such as Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Event Tree Analysis (ETA).

  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies for identified risks.

  • Safety Requirements and Standards Compliance:

  • Develop safety requirements and standards for aerospace products.

  • Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, and other regulatory bodies.

  • Conduct safety audits and reviews.

  • System Safety Assessments:

  • Perform system safety assessments to address safety-critical aspects.

  • Review system designs for potential safety issues.

  • Develop System Safety Assessment Reports (SSAR) and safety cases for certification and regulatory approval.

  • Safety Testing and Validation:

  • Plan and conduct safety testing and validation activities.

  • Analyze test results to verify compliance with safety requirements.

  • Address safety-related issues discovered during testing.

  • Safety Program Management:

  • Develop and manage safety programs and plans for projects.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into product development.

  • Monitor and report on the status of safety activities.

  • Incident Investigation and Analysis:

  • Investigate safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses.

  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.

  • Training and Communication:

  • Provide safety training and awareness programs.

  • Communicate safety requirements and best practices to teams.

  • Foster a culture of safety within the organization.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive safety documentation.

  • Prepare and submit safety documentation for certification and regulatory approvals.

Qualifications:

  • A Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Several years of experience in safety engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in safety analysis techniques and safety standards (e.g., FAA, EASA, MIL-STD-882).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
