Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with SEN support needs, such as autism or learning disabilities? Confident with approaching employers and building relationships with them? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a friendly and supportive team to coordinate their project which helps these young individuals into work experience placements or paid employment.
As part of the team, you will be working with 16-18 year-olds, providing employability and functional skills training to help them transition into work experience placements and ultimately paid employment. The good news is that most of the groundwork has already been done, including building relationships with local businesses. Your role will primarily focus on coordinating the placements and developing relationships with employers, so you can make a real impact right from the start.
A typical week in this role could involve reaching out to new organisations to discuss opportunities for taking on young people for work experience placements or paid work. You may also visit employers to talk about current placements and explore further opportunities, as well as deliver one-to-one and group sessions around job searching and interview preparation for learners. Additionally, you may provide cover for employment coaches and support learners in preparing for work experience placements, including accompanying them if necessary. You will also supervise a team of skills coaches, who support young people on placements. It is important that you are comfortable managing a team.
