Principal Civil Engineer - Water sector

Excellent opportunity to lead a Civil Engineering Design team, with a clear career path into Senior leadership and managing multi-disciplined teams.

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 basic

Hybrid working between 2 - 3 days working from home and 2 - 3 days working in the office. Determined by yourself and the capabilities of your teams as the young graduates will need more mentoring compared to the Senior Engineers.

The Opportunity:

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and growth UK Engineering consultancy. With capital investment looking to double the business in the next 5 years through direct sourcing and future acquisitions. With a core market in the Utilities and Environmental sectors, focusing on Civil, MEICA, Process, BIM and Project Management. Working with Clients and Tier 1 contractors on both frameworks and project-specific projects.

The Role:

The Resolute Group has been retained to identify and recruit a Principal Civil Engineer to lead the Civil Engineering design team. The previous Principal has now been promoted and with the rapid growth across the business, they need another strong leader to support the development of the current team.

The key attributes my client are looking for are:

  • Taking ownership of the role and leadership qualities.
  • Collaborative team player - Not only about delegating but being hands-on as required.
  • Client-facing - ability to forge and maintain excellent Client relationships

Taking control of the design process from the initial outline design with the client, working with your team on creating the detailed design. Working alongside the Design Leads which pulls together all the specialist skills required for the projects such as Civils, MEICA, BIM etc...

If it's a Civil Engineering bias project you will be the Design lead liaising with other disciplines, controlling the technical assurance and stakeholder interface. Having a good understanding of the commercial aspects would be ideal although those would also be developed with in the role.

Qualifications: -

  • Minimum of Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Ideally Chartered or almost Chartered status
  • Able to work in the Birmingham office 2-3 days per week
