MBDA UK is looking for a talented individual to join as a lead engineer in the Electrical Architecture function working on the cutting-edge development of the next generation of missile defence systems.

Job Title: Electrical / Electronic Power Systems Technical Specialist

Salary: Up to £68,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage, Bristol or Bolton (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: Typically 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

Exciting opportunity at MBDA UK for an Electrical/Electronic Power Systems Technical Specialist to join the team working on the next generation of missile defence systems.

This lead engineering role involves being the technical specialist for multiple power systems equipment, defining power system requirements, and coordinating work packages across suppliers. Key responsibilities include providing critical subject matter expertise, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring technical compliance of power systems.

What we're looking for from you:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification/experience in electrical/electronic engineering or a related subject
  • Experience and technical knowledge on power systems is key for this role

A knowledge of the following would be desirable but not essential:

  • Requirements/testing to Mil-Std-704 incorporating permanent magnet generators into a power architecture
  • AC machine control schemes (i.e. Direct Torque Control or Field Orientated Control (FOC)
  • You will be an experienced engineer with good technical knowledge in electrical/electronic power systems
