Finance Assistant- AR

My client seeking a meticulous and proactive Finance Assistant to join our team initially on a contract basis with potential to go perm. In this role, you will accurately maintain and process all sales ledger records, perform regular credit control activities to ensure timely debt payments, and support the finance team in meeting departmental deadlines and objectives. Your active participation in the month-end process will be crucial to our financial operations.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Sales Ledger Maintenance (UK & ROW):

  • Serve as the main contact for all customer accounts, maintaining key relationships.
  • Create new customer accounts in NetSuite, review credit reports, and recommend credit limits and payment terms.
  • Ensure all invoices are raised by 10am daily post-dispatch and multiple times during month-end.
  • Manage the AR/AP Contra process, handling documentation, raising POs, posting AP invoices, and managing AR journals/allocations.
  • Manage customer debt and resolutions, flagging delays, and maintaining communication.
  • Provide regular statements, copy invoices, and documentation to customers, streamlining this process.
  • Manage weekly debt meetings, communicating issues and solutions.
  • Maintain and manage the AR inbox.

Month End:

  • Perform monthly bank IFF reconciliation.
  • Reconcile current account postings weekly prior to month-end.
  • Support the Finance Controller with Invoice Discounting Facility administration (NatWest).
  • Conduct weekly/daily IFF facility uploads.
  • Generate monthly ad hoc sales reports (e.g., customer region sales).
  • Check PR samples ledger value is zero before close.
  • Adhere to and update the month-end tracker with tasks and guides.

ENTRY LEVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Attention to Detail: High-quality work production.
  • Process Improvement: Streamline processes for efficiency and clarity, effectively communicate and implement new processes.
  • Analytical: Interpret financial data, complete balance sheet reconciliations, and clearly communicate findings.
  • Communication: Confidently liaise with customers, suppliers, and staff at all levels; explain finance concepts to non-finance staff.
  • ****Background:**Experience in Retail, FMCG, or start-ups preferred; stock-based business or NetSuite experience is a bonus.
