Delivery Lead

We're recruiting for a Delivery Lead to be get involved in a number of digital transformation projects within a Local Authority.

Duration: 6 months initially, likely to extend

Rate: £500 per day inside IR35

Site presence: Occasional

Projects include:

  • Implementing software upgrades, potentially working on an I-DOX system upgrade(especially keen for candidate with experience of managing upgrades of more dated software in use in local gov)
  • Procurement/implementation of new hybrid meeting tech in the Council building
  • Procurement/roll out of laptop refresh
  • Cloud migration (or possibly hybrid migration – TBC)
  • IT service management software implementation

Responsibilities

  • Manage the successful delivery of one more complex technical IT implementations on time, to budget and quality, through appropriate adherence to the City Council's technical and architectural standards, reporting to the Head of Digital Strategy & Transformation and ultimately bringing the implementation(s) to successful completion
  • Manage the budgets allocated to their technical implementations, in accordance with a City Council's financial procedures and regulations; managing actual and forecast expenditure to within agreed tolerances and reporting variances to the Head of Digital Strategy & Transformation as necessary
  • Prior to the commencement of a technical implementation, lead the business in exploring options, fully costing these, identifying the optimum technically feasible solution, and defining realistic and measurable benefits (including establishing suitable benefit owners and putting in place appropriate benefit realisation plans), to support informed decision making
  • Build, maintain and execute a fully integrated, realistic and deliverable end to end technical implementation plan (including any standalone contingency, transition, testing and/or training plans), identifying key milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, critical path and associated assumptions, in line with any overarching departmental plans (as applicable)

Experience

  • Highly skilled at managing IT projects and change to deliver agreed benefits. with detailed knowledge of principles, methods, techniques & tools associated with the implementation of complex technical solutions
  • Skilled at building and managing effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of authority; building and managing effective project teams
  • Effective risk and issue management within a technical system implementation context
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT architecture principles (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman), with established project management methods (both Waterfall and Agile), and with programme management methods (e.g. MSP)
