Teaching Assistant - SEMH & SEND
Location: Bentley, Hampshire | Salary: Competitive | Full-Time, 12 month Fixed Term initially

We are excited to be supporting a fantastic academy trust and one of their independent specialist schools in Bentley, in their search for a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.

This nurturing school provides therapeutic, child-centred education for boys aged 11-17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, often alongside additional SEND such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. The school's trauma-informed approach and small class sizes create a safe, supportive environment where every child can thrive.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant at Compass Community School Hampshire, you'll be part of a close-knit team making a real difference in the lives of young people. The role is varied, hands-on, and deeply rewarding—perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic, child-focused setting.

Your day might include:

  • Supporting teachers in the classroom
  • Working 1:1 or with small groups of students
  • Managing classroom resources and creating engaging displays
  • Supporting students during trips, lunchtime, and social activities
  • Helping students regulate behaviour and stay safe during challenging moments
  • Playing games, conducting science experiments, and celebrating student success
  • Participating in therapy sessions and reflective practice

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH and/or SEND
  • A calm, consistent, and non-judgemental approach
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a team-player mindset
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and enhanced occupational sickness scheme
  • Extensive training and professional development opportunities
  • Small class sizes with strong team support
  • Regular therapeutic supervision and wellbeing support
  • Flexible pension scheme
  • Access to employee benefits including wellbeing services, salary sacrifice schemes, and discounts on high street brands and dining

This is more than just a job—it's a chance to be part of a school that values your voice, your creativity, and your commitment to making a difference.
