Job Title: Pensions Technical Manager

Location: Prescot, Merseyside

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

We are seeking a Pensions Specialist responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of services provided to various stakeholders, including pension fund trustees, corporate finance, HR, and members of the Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) pension schemes. The role involves ensuring compliance, managing communications, and providing corporate support for other pension and life cover arrangements

Day to Day of the role:

  • Ensure the Pensions Centre complies with statutory legislation, regulations, scheme rules, and quality standards, developing new procedures and tools as necessary
  • Manage member communication changes and maintain an up-to-date communications library to enhance user experience
  • Become an expert user of our pensions administration software system, Compendia, to ensure data quality and utilise system functionality
  • Lead major change projects, collaborating with stakeholders
  • Develop and deliver technical training and tools to the administration team
  • Suggest improvements to maintain effective systems and controls, improve business efficiencies, reduce potential complaints, and manage business risks
  • Peer review complex calculations, interpreting scheme rules and documentation
  • Provide corporate pensions support for other schemes and M&A activity

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree standard with a strong educational background
  • Pensions Qualification (PMI or Actuarial): full or nearly qualified or equivalent
  • Minimum 5+ years of pensions experience
  • Experience in pension administration management or pensions consultancy
  • Knowledge and experience in DB and DC pensions
  • Strong legislative and technical knowledge in pensions
  • Experience in manual calculations and dealing with complex queries
  • Strong analytical and data interrogation skills
  • Commitment to delivery without compromising quality
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple work streams and lead/manage projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft packages, notably Excel and Word, and willingness to learn new software packages
