Are you an experienced Housing Disrepair Fee Earner looking to take ownership of a varied caseload in a supportive, fast-paced environment? This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team known for achieving results and prioritising client care.

The Role:

As a Housing Disrepair Fee Earner, you will manage a diverse caseload of pre- and post-litigated housing condition claims on behalf of tenants. You will work independently and efficiently while maintaining high standards of client service. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Handling a full caseload of housing disrepair matters from instruction to resolution, including litigated claims.
  • Drafting Letters of Claim and adhering to the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Disrepair.
  • Assessing liability through thorough analysis of housing records and surveyors' reports (for both Claimant and Defendant).
  • Preparing and quantifying special damages.
  • Negotiating settlements, participating in mediations, and liaising with counsel when needed.
  • Issuing court proceedings and managing litigated files through to conclusion.
  • Using Proclaim case management software in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients through consistent communication and service delivery.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to help drive departmental success.
  • Supporting wider business initiatives and contributing to smooth departmental operations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in Housing Disrepair is essential; candidates with 3–5+ years in contentious civil litigation will also be considered.
  • Proficient in using case management systems—experience with Proclaim is particularly beneficial.
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload with competing demands and deadlines.
  • Solid litigation experience and sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Landlord & Tenant Act.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and diary management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with a client-focused and empathetic approach.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure, with good problem-solving abilities.
