Interim Accounts Payable Lead

  • Contract: 4-6 Months Fixed Term
  • Location: Hybrid – Home/Welwyn Garden City
  • Hours per Week: 37.5 hours
  • Pay rate : £15 per hour

My client is seeking an Interim Accounts Payable Lead to manage the treasury and finance functions, including accounts payable and receivables. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient financial operations within their organisation. This is primarily a remote role with requirements to be on site once a fortnight.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Manage the accounts payable function, ensuring all supplier invoices, statements, and GP payments are handled efficiently.
  • Document and uphold accounts payable processes to support the Finance team, ensuring all information within SAGE AND BUSINESS CENTRAL Accounting systems is reliable.
  • Daily management of bank accounts, including direct debits, standing orders, and cheques, to ensure liquidity and manage deposits.
  • Maintain accurate computerised and manual records, including data inputting.
  • Set up and maintain computerised records for clients, solving issues from inaccurate data.
  • Produce necessary correspondence and handle day-to-day queries related to accounts payable via telephone, email, and written communication.
  • Develop good working relationships with colleagues, relevant managers, and external organisations to deliver the function effectively.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external customers or subcontractors to manage invoices, resolve issues, and ensure efficient payments.
  • Handle and process receipts and invoices for services to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile VAT accounts and compile VAT Returns.
  • Undertake any other ad hoc duties as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • AAT Level qualification minimum, or part-qualified member of a recognised accounting body.
  • Experience in an Accounts Payable administration role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, ideally SAGE.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing challenging supplier interactions.
  • Strong team skills and a flexible approach to work.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage time effectively.
