Are you a Science Graduate looking to start a career in Publishing? We have a wonderful opportunity for a keen candidate looking to join a leading publishing house. This is a part time role of 17.5 hours a week.
This role is a hybrid role with very flexible working conditions.
As a Scientific Editor you will be responsible for supporting a large number of Editors, as well as the following duties such as:
- Working directly with authors, reviewers, and editors to help manage efficient, rigorous, and researcher-focused review processes that maintain high professional and scientific standard
- Monitoring and reporting on the peer review process, acting as a liaison between the editors, authors, reviewers, and publishing colleagues
- Working with the publishing team to identify, acquire, manage, and develop high impact scientific content, helping to shape the editorial direction of assigned journals
- Establishing and maintaining contacts with the scientific community in academia and industry
Other responsibilities can include picture research, soliciting of clinical trials, managing proposals and commissioning content.
To be successful in this position you will be:
- PhD in relevant life science field strongly preferred
- Able to work well in a collaborative environment and a drive to collaborate across multiple internal departments
- Possess great communication skills enabling you to communicate with a broad range of people internally and externally
- Be flexible, analytical and proactive; able to think critically about a wide range of scientific issues
- Be customer-focused, attentive
- Have great attention to detail
- Have excellent written and verbal English communication
