Finance Analyst

This international law firm has a history going back to the 1930s. It is now a leading and award-winning firm with a client base encompassing some of the best names in retail, banking, real estate, sports, and utilities.

The firm is based in the city, ideally placed for commuters. They offer a generous benefits package that includes a flexible element with an option of choice.

They are now looking to hire a Finance Analyst on a permanent basis. This role is responsible for supporting central finance activities including preparing value-added business analysis for the firm as a whole and providing financial support to strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • The role is responsible for supporting the production of business performance assessments, determining the optimum business model for each practice group and office and defining actions to be taken to achieve that model. This will involve working closely with senior management and with the DCOO, DLs and Practice Leaders to understand the key business drivers and present clearly the issues which need to be addressed.
  • The role will provide support as necessary to the Business Planning Director and Finance Leadership during central planning and budgeting exercises; including assisting with the moderation, consolidation and analysis of submissions made and providing support and guidance to the end users of the various models used in the business. Ability to question & challenge underlying assumptions to ensure the robustness and validity of the budget and forecasts.   • Assisting the Director, the role will be responsible for sharing commercial analysis tools, techniques and approaches with other members of the wider F&A function to assist in their on-going technical and professional development.
  • Continued on-going direct contact with the Director through the completion of various analytical and planning projects.
  • Regular contact with senior executive management (Department COOs, and COO/CFO) and the wider partnership through the provision of analytical and planning support in the course of routine and project specific work.
  • Regular contact with local finance teams (most notably local finance managers/financial controllers) to provide support and guidance during analytical and planning projects focusing on international operations to ensure best practice is shared across the function and adopted in a consistent manner.
  • Other contact as required with Partners or Directors/Senior Managers within other Business Service functions as required on specific departmental or cross-functional projects.
  • The role is required to quickly develop and then maintain strong working relationships, gaining individual's confidence and trust vital in the course of providing ongoing commercial guidance, interpretation and direction.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 3-5 years financial analysis experience preferred
  • Legal/professional services experience a plus
  • Analysis experience strongly desirable
  • Experience working in cross functional teams such as IT, HR, BD and LPM
  • Professional qualifications a plus (CIMA, MBA, etc.)
  • Ability to utilise Excel and MI systems to an advanced level. In depth working knowledge of best practices to be followed when analysing high volumes of complex data, producing management information and conducting investment appraisal on strategic initiatives.
