Wheel Dresser

Elevation Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a leader in Aerospace Manufacturing business based in Sheffield. We are seeking a skilled Wheel Dresser to join their production team. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of grinding operations and machine maintenance.

Job Title: Wheel Dresser

Location: Sheffield

Salary: Up to £17.00 p/h DOE

Hours: Monday to Friday 07.30am – 04.00pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create wheel packs for CNC grinding machines, assemble packs using correctly dressed wheels, arbours and spacing to enhance the performance in the grinding process
  • Maintain an accurate stocking system for all wheel pack components
  • Ensure availability of stock of packs at all times
  • Efficient and effective use of the machines within the cell to ensure maximum production time and quality of product is constantly achieved
  • Maintain wheels within specification by observing, checking, measuring and troubleshooting the processes, adjusting controls whilst adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Report any deviations from specification to Team Leader, Supervisor, Production Manager or a member of the Quality team
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance routines / requirements as determined by the machine manufacturer and, or Maintenance and Facilities Manager
  • Report all other machine defects / maintenance issues to Maintenance Department through eMaint (software)
  • Program and run Mitsubishi robot loaded wire machine
  • Set and run manual wheel dresser
  • Operate Zoller measuring equipment
  • Use Haimer balancing equipment

Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Wheel Dresser or in a similar role
  • Familiarity with Mitsubishi robot loaded wire machines, manual wheel dresser, Zoller measuring equipment and Haimer balancing equipment is highly preferred
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and job cards.
  • Competency in using digital and laser micrometers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of quality control processes and procedures.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
