Financial Controller
Location - Ashford
Salary - £40,000 - £45,000 pro annum pro rata
Hours - 37.5 hrs per week
Contract maternity cover for 1 year
Join a leading manufacturing firm in Ashford as a Financial Controller and become a member of the Senior Management on a maternity leave position to look after the overall responsibility of the day-to-day running of the accounts department.
Responsibilities for the role of Financial Controller
- Will be the production of monthly management accounts and group reporting
- Oversee accruals and prepayments, prepare stocks and other GL journals
- Ensure all balances are reconciled before closing reporting deadlines
- Be proactive in the corporate Hyperion software submissions per the group timetable
- Be accountable for the local management submissions per the agreed timetable
- Review performance against budget and investigate variances
- Ensure regular balance reviews are performed to ensure accuracy
- Ensure sales invoices are issued promptly and accurately
- Ensure customer receipts are promptly allocated to ensure minimal overdue balances
- Ensure bank reconciliations are performed to agreed timescales
- Prepare/approve bank payments to ensure compliance with terms
- Production of annual budget Budgets including regular performance reviews against plans
- Statutory accounts & reporting: Preparation of local statutory accounts, audit packs and tax information packs
- Assist in the implementation of current Manufacturing Information System (CERM) and or other future automated systems and recommend changes as required
- Enhance the quality of output from both CERM and SYSPRO accounting software to ensure the effectiveness of information output and continued improvement of the information provided
- Ensure direct reports have clearly defined jobs and targets including regular reviews of roles to ensure staff motivation and effectiveness and achieve performance to required standards
- Identify and implement any training as required
- KPIs are measured in the accuracy of information, on-time reporting, compliance with best accounting practices and problem-free audits
Personal specification for the role of Financial Controller
- Will hold a professional accounting qualification or be qualified by experience (at least 5 years)
- Will have sound technical knowledge and understanding of UK GAAP and basic tax matters
- The ability for interpretation/analytical skills: the ability to "look beyond the numbers" is a requirement
- Must have a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Experienced in managing people through a period of system and process changes
