Enterprise Risk Consultant

To be located in either central Manchester or central Leeds, and offering a very flexible hybrid working week, a very well known financial services business are looking to hire an Enterprise Risk Consultant to support with the development and maintenance of the firms Enterprise Risk Management Framework.

The role holder will develop effective business partner relationships, provide advice and oversight of activities such as identification and management of risks, controls, events, incidents, actions, business continuity plans. The role holder will also deliver and embed a strong risk culture across the firm and support with developing timely and accurate risk reporting and monitoring for committees including Executive Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee.

Role responsibilities

  • Support the Enterprise Risk Team in fulfilling its ‘second line of defence' responsibilities by providing effective support and challenge to ensure business wide adherence to documented policies, control standards, processes and procedures, ensuring the delivery of excellent customer experience in line with required regulatory standards
  • Support with delivery and oversight of RCSAs, to ensure that all material risks are identified, understood, correctly documented.
  • Provide effective oversight to ensure all material risks have a suitable and well-articulated control, or where Risks cannot be treated, ensuring the Risk Acceptance process is followed appropriately.
  • Execute key control assurance programme with the first line of defence.
  • Support the training, development, and ongoing maintenance, of the organisation's Risk Management system.
  • Produce and review regular monitoring MI (KRIs, KCIs, Control Dashboards etc.).
  • Provide oversight and challenge of business continuity plans.
  • Represent the Enterprise Risk function in projects and/ or business forums as a subject matter expert to identify, review and assess risks that may impact the business.
  • Support the delivery and embedding of a strong risk culture across the organization.

Personal Attributes & Experience

  • Risk management knowledge – understanding of risks and controls and broader risk management concepts such as risk events and risk/control assessments.
  • Able to analyse data, draw themes and conclusions to include in reporting or as part of assurance/oversight activities
  • Experience of working within a financial service regulated firm, preferably within a ‘second line' function such as risk, audit or compliance background.
  • Awareness and knowledge of regulatory environment.
  • Holds, or is willing to study for the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) Certificate in Risk Management (or equivalent)
