Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Contract: 6 - 12 months fixed term

Clear Choice Recruitment is working behalf of a global organisation that serves the Aerospace Industry. They are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer working from their Cwmbran site to join their growing team initially on a 6-12 month fixed term contract.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role is seen as a planning and coordination authority, through knowledge, experience and exposure to high complexity category programs. In this role you will provide input and support to Chief Engineers. You will need to be experienced in leading and developing others, managing workload and resources across multiple programs concurrently, ideally within the Aerospace industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and coordination of all design activities to ensure on time delivery.
  • Participate in all MER / Technical Audits.
  • Develop tools, processes and methods for delivery of design deliverables for project deadlines.
  • Reporting / Forecasting of status and updating of KPIs.
  • Support ITCM, PDR and CDR when required.
  • Audit Design engineering deliverables.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical / Aerospace / Structural Engineering degree.
  • Significant experience gained in project leadership through a full program lifecycle.
  • Highly proficient in Catia and PLM.
  • Strong ability to plan and schedule design activities across multiple design modules.
  • Effective communication skills, able to clearly define expectations and gain understanding.
  • Strong problem solving ability.
  • Good leadership skills to engage and motivate others.
  • Ability to advise and influence across functions.
