Port Operations Officer

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Port Operations Officertojoin our Liverpool office**.** You will join us on a full-time, 12 month fixed term contractbasis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary and benefits.

Your responsibilities as our Port Operations Officer will include:

  • Arranging terminal services as required, such as Inspections / Repacking / Fumigation / Damaged / Hold / COD for UK port operations
  • Ensuring terminal and local authority approval for special cargo including OOG, Breakbulk and Dangerous Goods where required
  • Confirmation of supplier invoicing
  • IMDG port information requests
  • Port Health and Border Force correspondence
  • Terminal storage optimisation including identifying units suitable for onward shipment and idle units
  • Checking vendor's invoices against actual services provided when assigned
  • Assisting as necessary with any issues relating to the laden exec process
  • Maintaining relationships with local vendors and operators supplying port-related services
  • Assisting and supporting with husbandry tasks where necessary
  • Assisting Port Operations Managers in the collection of port-related data and information and compilation of statistics and presentations
  • Coordination of information about Feeder ports and communication with other departments

To become our Port Operations Officer, you'll need:

  • Proficient in the use of MCS Office applications
  • Knowledge of CNS port community system
  • Ability to work confidently in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision
  • The ability to travel within the UK is not essential but may be advantageous to this position
  • Excellent Communication Standards
  • Experience in Port operations and vessel management preferred
  • Experience in Equipment management preferred
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Ability to work under own direction and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail
