Site Operative, £27,200 per annum

Based on the outskirts of Thetford (Access to own vehicle required due to location)

37.5 hours per week: 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid break from 06:00 – 14:00 and 14:00 – 22:00 initially, with a future 24/7 three-shift working.

JOB PURPOSE

As a Site Operative, you will work under the supervision of the Team Leader, playing a pivotal role in monitoring the manufacturing production line and maintaining the Manufacturing Plant. Your responsibilities include ensuring production efficiency, adhering to safety standards, and assisting with minor maintenance tasks. This role requires proactive decision-making, self-reliance, and a strong commitment to safety and compliance.

KEY DUTIES

  • Assist with the manufacturing process, operate mobile plant equipment, and perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • Work independently, efficiently, and productively, occasionally deputizing for the Team Leader.
  • Communicate task completion promptly to the Team Leader and seek instructions for the next task.
  • Support the Team Leaders in completing daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and reporting shift issues promptly.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of Health, Safety, Welfare, and Security matters, setting an example for others.
  • Ensure the plant and site are clean and well-organized, including cleaning mixers and confined spaces when necessary.
  • Willingly undergo training to acquire new skills vital for efficient operations, such as mobile plant operation, plant maintenance, first aid, and confined space working.
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance, challenging others when necessary, and always following established procedures.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the plant to identify and address potential issues within the production line.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude, practical problem-solving abilities, and proficiency with computer systems.
  • Proven track record of taking responsibility at work and demonstrating reliability.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Willingness to contribute ideas for process improvements and discussions.
  • Possession of a clean driving license and relevant licenses, such as Front-end loader or fork truck.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within waste, aggregates, or concrete sectors.
  • A strong desire to learn new skills with the aim of advancing within the organization.
