  • Salary: £24,000 TO £26,000 Pro rata

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to provide essential support to our Finance Manager and Finance Director. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong administrative skills with a good understanding of financial concepts and accounting systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for keying in data, compiling information, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Enter and code financial transactions appropriately.
  • Process financial documents such as invoices and credit notes.
  • Validate invoices against items or services received and reconcile with departmental billings.
  • Maintain and create new supplier accounts, ensuring supplier records are up to date.
  • Key data into the company accounting system with precision.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce company costs.
  • Make bank deposits and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage petty cash transactions and track expenses related to specific projects and jobs.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are accurate and disburse funds as needed.
  • Develop relationships with external advisors, such as banks and invoice financing entities.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Finance Manager and/or Finance Director.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with bookkeeping practices.
  • Knowledge of accounting terminology, rules, and legislation.
  • Proficiency in Sage50 Accounts and an understanding of Xero.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with filing systems and administrative procedures.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Strong organisational and attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to detect inconsistencies.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and data entry capabilities.
