Accounts & Admin Assistant

- Job Type: Part Time 3 days per week 9am - 5pm (NO HYBRID)
- Salary: £24,000 TO £26,000 Pro rata
We are seeking a Finance Assistant to provide essential support to our Finance Manager and Finance Director. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong administrative skills with a good understanding of financial concepts and accounting systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for keying in data, compiling information, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Enter and code financial transactions appropriately.
- Process financial documents such as invoices and credit notes.
- Validate invoices against items or services received and reconcile with departmental billings.
- Maintain and create new supplier accounts, ensuring supplier records are up to date.
- Key data into the company accounting system with precision.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce company costs.
- Make bank deposits and maintain accurate records.
- Manage petty cash transactions and track expenses related to specific projects and jobs.
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurate and disburse funds as needed.
- Develop relationships with external advisors, such as banks and invoice financing entities.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Finance Manager and/or Finance Director.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience with bookkeeping practices.
- Knowledge of accounting terminology, rules, and legislation.
- Proficiency in Sage50 Accounts and an understanding of Xero.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite.
- Familiarity with filing systems and administrative procedures.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
- Strong organisational and attention to detail.
- Analytical skills with the ability to detect inconsistencies.
- Ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and data entry capabilities.
