Regional Operations Manager

As part of our team, you'll have the autonomy to work from home and the convenience of a company car for site visits to our distribution centres (CDCs) when needed.

The Accountables:

In this role, you will oversee the profitability of all Calor Distribution Centres (CDCs) and cylinder gas business activities within your region. This includes managing the full P&L budget for cylinder activities to ensure financial performance aligns with organizational objectives. You will implement and monitor cost-efficient activities for cylinder distribution while upholding high service standards. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Head of Cylinder Logistics and Finance to prepare and monitor annual operating and capital expenditure budgets and identify and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining a customer-centric approach.

In this role, you will provide Visible Felt Leadership across all sites by conducting site visits, coaching CDC colleagues, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. You will ensure that transport compliance requirements are met, oversee employee training for outstanding customer service, and create and manage a comprehensive KPI framework focused on customer complaints, order management, credit control, and sales support. Additionally, you will optimize distribution efficiencies, deliver exceptional service, and manage transport logistics, fulfilment needs, and stock to ensure smooth operations and strong customer relationships. Your responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with transport regulations, operator licenses, H&S legislation, and competition law.

You will collaborate with the Head of Cylinder Logistics to develop and implement regional strategies and operational plans. This partnership will focus on aligning regional goals with broader organizational objectives to drive effective and efficient cylinder gas operations.

The Essentials:

  • Full UK driving license
  • Transport Manager CPC qualification
  • Detailed knowledge of current transport and ADR legislation
  • Proven leadership skills across multiple locations in logistics and distribution
  • Extensive management experience in a service-led and safety-critical environment
  • Skilled in organizing resources, developing, and implementing KPIs
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver against large and complex cost budgets
  • Strategic thinker with input on direction and implementation of new approaches

The Desirables:

  • ADR qualification (preferred); NEBOSH qualification (desirable)
