We are hiring for an experienced engineering biased Sales Manager, this individual must be comfortable working in high value long lead time sales proposals and be willing /able to travel extensively in the UK and overseas.
The successful candidate will:
- Own the sales process from initial enquiry to purchase order.
- Attend key customer visits to build and develop strong business relationships
- Represent the company at Trade Shows, exhibitions and seminars to promote the business
The clients products are bespoke, so each sale can be a long and complicated tender process to reach the correct engineering solution at the right price.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build client relationships to promote the brand globally.
- Actively seek market intelligence to develop sales opportunities.
- Manage and understand the detail of all aspects of the proposals process in conjunction with the sales team including:
O Project management of, and input into, the bid preparation.
O Negotiate all aspects of the sale with the client ensuring compliance and approval processes are adhered to.
O Liaise with the Process Design team to ensure that clients' technical expectations are understood and the best engineering solution is found at the most competitive pricing.
O Liaise with the Estimating team to ensure realistic and profitable pricing.
O Negotiate commercial terms and conditions to ensure that margin expectations are met.
O Understand the supply chain and sourcing upon which a bid is based.
SALES MANAGER
- Travel internationally to develop and maintain client, agent and supplier relationships.
- Develop new market areas and introduce new agents.
- Look for opportunities for After Market spares and service offerings.
- Work with the Estimating team to expand the supply chain by identifying or visiting new suppliers to offer lower cost sourcing options.
- Work with the Process department to find new avenues for diversification.
- Lead and motivate team members.
- Active reporting of the sales pipeline, ensuring sales figures and enquiry records are up to date and in the CRM.
- Attend Sales and Strategy meetings.
- Represent the business at trade events, dinners, seminars, exhibitions etc.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- A balanced focus of technical ability, commercial direction and relationship management.
- Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships across the industry by establishing trust, credibility and respect with integrity.
- A technical/engineering sales background
- Energy, drive and tenacity.
- A good eye for detail, able to read and understand complicated contracts and terms and conditions.
- Very organised with good administration skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and spoken.
- A hands-on approach, able to project manage all strands of the bidding process.
- Ability to close a deal.
- Flexibility to undertake foreign travel at short notice.
- A team player, who can manage and motivate the various internal departments contributing to the bidding process.
- A self-starter who will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
