Look no further! Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a dynamic SEND TA to join our outstanding special school in Workington.

About the School:

The school creates life-changing opportunities for children and young people aged 4-18 with Autism. Position Overview:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour resulting from additional needs. You will be based in the room designed for pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs, providing assistance and guidance to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement tailored strategies for students with autism who demonstrate challenging behaviour.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support as required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly within special education settings.
  • Understanding and empathy for pupils with autism and other additional learning and behavioural difficulties.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.

To join us and be successful in this role you will also need to have:

  • Experience of working with SEND
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
  • Legal right to work in the UK

Qualifications of NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) or higher are desirable but not essential. The school are always interested to hear from aspirational applicants with no school experience, but have transferable skills from other sectors such as care/ support work or sports coach.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

Daily Rate of Pay: £85 - £95 per day
