Senior Sourcing Specialist

Location - Darlington

Salary - £24.41 - £31.59 per hour DOE

Hours - Full-time, hybrid

Contract - Until 30th June 2025 initially

Our client, a leading electrical generator and engine producer, is currently looking for a Senior Sourcing Specialist to join their team on a contract basis. You will be required to travel to site for team projects however most of the role can be done from home.

The role demands a high level of proven knowledge and would ideally suit a candidate with experience in the field.

A Day in the Life of the Senior Sourcing Specialist

  • Conducting complex analysis of markets, supply chains, and supply base; applies analysis to sourcing process improvement initiatives
  • Identifying qualified suppliers and executing sound source selection processes
  • Interfacing regularly with suppliers within the area of responsibility and maintaining the supplier relationship
  • Understanding how key procurement principles are used to ensure supply
  • Sourcing specialised items and executing complex sourcing strategies following agreed-upon sourcing strategy/plans at the optimum cost, quality and relationship
  • Working with peers and stakeholders to support business goals, such as supply security, reduction of complexity or financial targets
  • Independently carries out sourcing activities with full consideration for the impact of those activities on the end-to-end supply chain
  • Executes sourcing tactics of varying complexity following established category/commodity strategies reflecting the optimum cost, quality, and delivery
  • Analyses complex sourcing and procurement initiatives and processes in support of the delivery of cost-effective and high-quality goods and services
  • Supports procurement/sourcing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, industry and market analysis, process analysis, and model building
  • Lead analysis projects/initiatives providing coaching to less experienced analysts and specialists
  • Negotiates select contracts develops and maintains effective relationships with suppliers to the benefit of both parties
  • Understands the importance of compliance and is alert to situations that can pose risk to the company

  • Will need to have a solid understanding of the importance of compliance and be alert to situations that can pose risks to business
  • Must be capable of anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Able to apply knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organisation's goals
  • The ability to detect, interpret and communicate qualitative and quantitative data that determines conclusions relying on knowledge of business or functional frameworks; simultaneously applies statistics, data validity, data visualisation, and problem-solving approaches to effectively extract meaningful patterns and business insights; presents conclusions and outcomes that enable data-driven business decisions
  • Ability to establish regional category strategy using the Total Value Performance approach to define the supply base, Tooling and Technology Strategy to meet all current and future company needs
  • Experience in establishing and controlling product and service costs using functional tools to deliver and track products and services at competitive prices
  • Will be able to show the competitiveness of company products in our markets while preserving desired margins Utilises Total Cost Opportunity model methodology
  • Capable of assuring protection of company Intellectual Property to optimise the use of intellectual property for the company's future competitive advantage by engaging the Legal and Procurement function; assures company intellectual property ownership rights are clearly defined in executed agreements
  • Will possess negotiation skills that Utilise tools and methods in negotiations to achieve company & stakeholder objectives and achieve mutually agreed upon contract terms between all parties
