AWE is looking for experienced Systems Engineers to join a growing multi-disciplinary team that support a range of activities from system engineering on our core warhead products, to applying systems thinking across our whole organisation.

The opportunities:

We have fantastic opportunities for you to join the Warhead Systems Engineering Group, responsible for systems engineering support to projects, programmes and portfolios across our enterprise. We are standing up new requirements engineering capabilities in key business areas, such as our Programme Management Office, and our weapon delivery programmes.

Several vacancies exist supporting the business at the enterprise-level, as well as more technical roles supporting the project level. These are exciting opportunities to work across our diverse business, and would suit those who want to get out, drive direction and lead change.

With demand for these roles increasing as we ramp up the delivery of our current and future?warhead programmes, you will be a key part in growing our capability.

Job Title: Senior Requirements Engineers

Location: Reading Area

Package: £45,000 - £75,000 (dependant on level of experience)

An example of the types of responsibilities you will have are:

  • Leading on stakeholder engagement activities to collaborate with the business, the customer (MoD), government agencies and regulators
  • The development and use of tools and techniques to conduct impact analysis and assessments
  • Supporting Subject Matter Experts to help define the solution space
  • Capturing and translating stakeholder vision into requirement sets
  • The development of Concept of Operations and system architectures
  • Generation and management of Validation & Verification needs and evidence
  • Producing high quality technical reports, presentations and project artefacts as required by Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes and project delivery
  • Developing your own expertise in the area, keeping up to date with the latest tools and techniques in a discipline that is seeing fast global growth
  • To provide mentoring and support in the development of less experienced Requirements Engineers, and other stakeholders

What we're looking for from you:

You will be an enthusiastic, adaptable and proactive individual who enjoys working with a diverse range of stakeholders to find solutions to complex engineering problems. Ideally you would have experience in requirements elicitation at either product, project or capability levels, however there are opportunities for re-training available. Office based due to classification of work (some hybrid working may be available)

We would really like you to have experience in:

  • The application of systems thinking in a technical role
  • Stakeholder collaboration and inclusion
  • Being proactive, a self-starter and organised
  • Being inquisitive, not afraid to ask questions or challenge
  • Data analysis and technical report writing
  • A Degree in a STEM discipline, equivalent NQF level 6 qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable experience:

  • Elicitation and development of requirements for complex projects or systems
  • Derivation and allocation of requirements to system elements
  • Development, tailoring and documenting of requirements management processes and procedures at an enterprise or project level
  • Implementation of requirements management in combination with Model Based Systems Engineering frameworks, approaches and tools
  • Use of formal requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, Polarion)
  • Working within a highly regulated industry
  • Charters status, or working towards, with an appropriate professional body
