Group Controller

Grafton Banks Finance in Surrey is exclusively assisting a rapidly expanding, global business with offices near Woking recruit a Group Controller. The role requires a fully qualified and technically sound accountant/leader. The role is responsible for the financial accounting, reporting, treasury, payroll, and compliance across Finance. Ensuring statutory reporting compliance, group consolidation, FX policies and internal controls are in place to meet Group and Regional regulatory requirements. Working globally with business leaders, external 3rd parties and directly assisting the FD across Financial control, compliance, and reporting matters. It will manage and develop a team of four staff.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Ensure Financial reporting requirements are delivered in accordance with Group and Regional accounting and legal regulations.
  • Establish and ensure internal processes, policies and controls are being carried out effectively in accordance with UK GAAP, IFRS and regional regulations.
  • Overview of the Group reconciliations, FX policies and month end reporting.
  • Monitor and manage treasury activity, ensuring that the team maintains the bank accounts, processing and performing monthly reconciliations with support from the AP, AR teams.
  • Review monthly cash position, reconciliations and forecasts.
  • Take accountability for the overall management of the monthly and year end timetable, this would include the planning and methodology; ensuring all deliverables are met.
  • Oversee and review statutory audit planning, preparation and co-ordination within the business and auditors.
  • Develop and implement new reporting and system developments to improve control and insight.
  • Develop new approaches for financial compliance e.g. Transfer pricing, Reconciliations, Inter-company
  • Assist with Forex reporting and management.
  • Business partnering to 3rd parties e.g. Banks, Auditors, HMRC, Companies House.
  • Manage the European Payroll process and oversee the Global Payroll processes, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Co-ordination and support for the Balance Sheet Forecasts and Budgets.
  • Provide finance and compliance advice and training as needed by the business.
  • Monitoring the progress of current projects, and managing service with team members to ensure the team's financial objectives and goals are met.

The person:

  • Experience of Financial reporting , Statutory Accounts, Group consolidation and Forex management.
  • Would suit a technically sound current FC or Group Financial Reporting Manager looking for next step in career.
  • Fully qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Experience of driving change as well as process and systems improvements
  • Experience of Group consolidation and subsidiary company reporting for International companies
  • Commercial acumen and desire to support business growth and change management.
  • Experience of managing Auditors and other external financial related parties.
  • Knowledge of working with various currencies and international markets.
  • Up to date with accounting policies and practices.
