Project Finance Business Partner

With partnering with a pioneering research organisation dedicated to advancing life sciences for the benefit of society to find a highly analytical and experienced Finance Business Partner to join the team on an interim basis.

This role will be instrumental in analysing Technology Spend across the organisation, particularly within the IT and Data Science functions for three months, beginning in September. As they implement a new Technology Strategy and expand the Data Science team, you will work closely with the Chief Information Officer and Director of Data Science to produce a robust budget, understand the financial implications and ensure strategic alignment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Spend Analysis: Conduct a detailed analysis of Technology Spend across the organisation with a focus on IT and Data Science functions. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to understand the impact of the new Technology Strategy and the growth of the Data Science team.
  • Budget Support: Assist in the budgeting process for IT and Data Science teams. Analyse potential costs, develop forecasts, and prepare budget presentations for senior leadership.
  • Project Portfolio Review: Partner with the Associate Director of Operational Excellence and Head of PMO to review the Operational Excellence Framework (OEF) project portfolio. Assess the financial implications for the 2025 budget and provide insights to inform decision-making.
  • Expenditure Allocation: Develop and recommend options for the allocation of IT expenditure across business cost centres, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Change Enablement: Support the Finance team in aligning financial planning with the broader strategic objectives. Provide guidance and expertise during periods of significant organisational change.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with senior key stakeholders across the organisation, both in finance and technology

Key Requirements:

  • Professional Qualification: Qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Analytical Expertise: Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven experience in business partnering and managing relationships with senior stakeholders ideally in IT/technology
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with a degree of ambiguity, particularly in developing and implementing business plans.
  • Time Management: Ability to deliver high-quality work under time pressure.
