Newly Qualified Accountant

Posted by Mitchell Adam.

This well-known global services business is looking to appoint a Commercial Accountant based at their large shared service centre based in Birmingham.

In a leadership role with a wide variety of stakeholders to manage, this role will see you take responsibility for and increasing workload in the Management Accounting team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will spend time managing, developing and improving procedures and business partnering with retail consessions, parking directors and across a wide scope organisation. The information you and your team produce will be used to support decision making across the entire business, giving you valuable exposure to the drivers behind commercial business performance.

You will also provide KPI reports, performance analysis and detailed commentary for a variety of internal budget holders, champion continuous process improvement initiatives, liaise with senior finance people in other divisions about their results and generally gain broad exposure in a fast-paced and successful business.

Ideally, you will:

  • Be a finalist or qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) with demonstrable experience of producing complex management accounts, reports and analysis in a commercial environment;
  • Have good technical accounting skills, with lots of knowledge about the basics of management accounting to pass on to your team;
  • Have had some experience of managing, developing, mentoring or training people at a more junior level - or at least have natural leadership qualities and very good people skills;
  • Be an assured communicator, have confidence/conviction when dealing with more senior people and possess the difficult skill of managing expectations across several networks very effectively;
  • Either have had experience in a manager level role, or be an ambitious Management Accountant ready to take a leap forward in your career into a more progressive leadership role.

In return, you will:

  • Work with a bright, knowledgeable and 'hands-off' manager who is keen to trust people to take ownership of their own role - meaning you will be trusted with a high level of autonomy;
  • Have a chance to make a tangible impact on improving the output of your team, through both developing your staff and initiating meaningful process improvements;
  • Work for a large and diversified business who actively encourage internal people development, affording you genuine opportunities to develop your career with this group.

A great opportunity for a motivated Management Accountant to take a step into their first management role, developing their career and enjoying long-term prospects in a well-known business.

Alternatively, an equally great opportunity for someone with existing experience as a manager to step into a company that have a track record of developing people towards more and more senior roles in the future.
