Accelerate Teaching is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and passionate Design Technology (DT) Technician to join a thriving secondary school in Bradford. We are seeking a dedicated individual who is eager to support the Design Technology department in creating a dynamic learning environment for students. This full-time position is set to commence in September 2024.

As a DT Technician, you will play a crucial role in helping to bring the creative and technical aspects of the DT curriculum to life. Working closely with teachers and students, your role will involve preparing materials and equipment for lessons, maintaining tools and machinery, and ensuring the smooth running of practical sessions. This is a perfect opportunity for someone with a passion for design and technology, who is keen to make a real difference in students' education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing equipment, materials, and resources for DT lessons, ensuring everything is ready for practical sessions.
  • Supporting teachers during lessons by setting up and dismantling practical workstations.
  • Maintaining tools and machinery, ensuring that they are in good working order and comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Managing stock and ordering materials as required, ensuring resources are always available for students and staff.
  • Providing technical assistance to students during practical lessons, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment, adhering to the highest safety standards.
  • Assisting with the development of new teaching resources and supporting extra-curricular DT activities.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a similar role within a school or educational setting is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations within a workshop environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine interest in design and technology, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
